The Crim: A Legacy Built on Health & Wellness
For the last 45 years, “Crim” has remained committed to improving the lives of residents within the City of Flint and Genesee County by providing best-practice programming and proven leadership in regional, state, and national efforts surrounding community health & wellness. What started in 1977 as a ten-mile road race to benefit the Special Olympics, has evolved into an organization providing robust, year-round programs in physical activity, nutrition, education, and mindfulness to people of all ages, especially the underserved.
The organization’s mission continues to be to create vibrant accessible communities in Flint and Genesee County that encourage people to lead a healthy lifestyle by integrating physical activity, healthy eating, and mindful practices into their daily lives and mentor other communities to do the same. They are transforming the community through events, programs, and policy advocacy to change the culture of health and wellness.
It’s a natural partnership between The Crim and EnMotive. EnMotive is a company that at the at it’s core, supports events and programs in their mission to transform their communities.
Community: a unified body of individuals. Yep! That’s exactly what the Crim Festival of Races is all about; a unified body of individuals all working together towards their fitness goal, whatever that is and whatever that might look like.
Is racing the event your passion? The faster the better? Get after it and don’t look back. The male winner of the 10 Mile Run crushed the course at a 4:52 minute mile. Amazing! The female winner left it all on the streets and crushed her race at a 5:32 pace!
Racing looks a little painful for my taste. Is your participation style a little more relaxed? FUN and RUN do rhyme!
Let’s talk about determination. Every person on the streets participating in one of the Crim events is amazing. Regardless if you are having fun or if you are out to set a PR. Each person brings inspiration, which is exactly what the mission statement states.
